Abstract

Abstract

Environmental Problem is a global problem that has come to the attention of various sectors, which is the education sector. The education sector is a formal institution that has a role to provide environmental education to the community. The purpose of this study is 1) to describe the level of environmental literacy in Adiwiyata Mandiri school in Banda Aceh City 2) determine the level of concern of school community 3) Knowing the factors that influence the student's environmental literacy. The method used in this study is observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Observations were made to see the condition of the Adiwiyata school in Banda Aceh city. Interviews were conducted to obtain information from school principals regarding the environment-based policies that have been implemented.  the questionnaire used to see the level of environmental awareness of Adiwiyata school students. The results showed that optimizing the school environment at SMA Negeri 4 Banda Aceh City, in general, was good. This is discussed within four indicators in the environmental level assessment, namely: the development of environmentally sound school policies, the development of an environment-based curriculum, the development of participatory-based activities, and the development and management of environmental friendly school support facilities.

ABSTRAK

Permasalahan lingkungan merupakan isu global yang menjadi perhatian dari berbagai sektor, salah satunya adalah sektor pendidikan. Sektor pendidikan merupakan lembaga formal yang memiliki peran untuk memberikan pendidikan lingkungan kepada masyarakat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah 1) mendeskripsikan tingkat literasi lingkungan (Environmental Literacy) di sekolah Adiwiyata Mandiri di Kota Banda Aceh 2) mengetahui tingkat kepedulian warga sekolah 3) Mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi environmental literacy siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, wawancara dan kuisioner. Observasi dilakukan untuk melihat kondisi lingkungan sekolah Adiwiyata di Kota Banda Aceh. Wawancara dilakukan untuk mendapatkan informasi dari kepala sekolah mengenai kebijakan yang berbasis lingkungan yang telah diterapkan. Sedangkan kuisioner untuk melihat tingkat kepedulian siswa sekolah Adiwiyata.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan optimalisasi literasi lingkungan sekolah Adiwiyata khususnya di SMA Negeri 4 Kota Banda Aceh secara umum berjalan dengan baik. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan empat indikator dalam mengevaluasi tingkat environmental Literacy, yaitu: pengembangan kebijakan sekolah yang berwawasan lingkungan, pengembangan kurikulum berbasis lingkungan, pengembangan kegiatan lingkungan berbasis partisipatif, serta pengembangan dan atau pengelolaan sarana pendukung sekolah yang ramah lingkungan.
