Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to Mimbar: Jurnal Penelitian Sosial dan Politik undergo a structured editorial and peer review process in accordance with COPE Core Practices.

Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, each manuscript is first evaluated by the editorial team to assess its suitability in terms of scope, originality, methodological quality, and compliance with the journal’s author guidelines. Manuscripts that do not meet the basic requirements may be returned to authors without external review. This stage typically takes approximately one week.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind peer review system, in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process.

Reviewers are selected based on their expertise in the relevant subject area and must not have any conflict of interest with the authors or the research.

Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewers’ reports, the editorial board makes one of the following decisions:

  1. Accept submission
  2. Minor revision required
  3. Major revision required (resubmission for review)
  4. Reject submission

In some cases, manuscripts may be suggested for submission to a more appropriate journal if they fall outside the scope of this journal.

Review Timeline

The average time to first decision is approximately 3–8 weeks. The total publication timeline may vary depending on the number of revision rounds and reviewer availability. On average, final editorial decisions are made within 3–4 months.

Ethical Standards in Review

All reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality, provide objective and constructive feedback, and disclose any conflicts of interest. Manuscripts under review must not be shared or used for personal advantage.
